Submarines first made their appearance within World of Warships last Halloween, however Wargaming wants to bring them back. Several playable submarines are already on their way within the few weeks. Wargaming has also released gameplay and cinematic trailers featuring the new vessels.
World of Warships players will have access to three new submarines during the test phase. Three major nations, Germany, USSR, and The United states will be the testing grounds for these boats. Japanses submarines are set for release later this year. The first subs are as follows:
- The United States: the Cachalot (Tier VI), Salmon (Tier VIII) and Balao (Tier X).
- Germany: the U-69 (Tier VI), U-190 (Tier VIII) and U-2501 (Tier X).
- USSR: the S-1 (Tier VI), L-20 (Tier VIII) and K1 (Tier X).
Along with this, players will have to begin micromanaging their subs. Once under water, players will have to deal with oxygen supplies, health bars, and locating the enemy. The submarines are slow, weak and difficult to play. Relying on active sonar to locate enemy contacts, players must navigate to firing positions, without being spotted themselves.
Submarines will enter World of Warships within the next couple of weeks during a test phase.
