Ubisoft have recently stated it’s ‘not possible’ to bring Rainbow Six Siege to the Nintendo Switch. The console has already received numerous ports like DOOM and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus over the past year, with Diablo III also recently announced for the platform, and considering Ubisoft’s affinity with Nintendo, the question was raised if the company would port titles like Assassin’s Creed and Rainbow Six Siege.
Ubisoft have answered that by explaining how the platform’s technical limitations would prevent Rainbow Six Siege running to a high standard, relying on a stable 60 FPS frame rate and destructible environments.
Brand director Alexandre Remy recently told Metro; ‘‘it’s not possible with the technical constraint and especially the frame rate of the game; 60 frames per second plus destruction is a bit CPU heavy and Switch is not yet the Nintendo console where it’ll be.”
“Overall it’s true Rainbow Six is very much a game where we just want to expand the player base, because the more player’s we do have the better the whole game and services, so if at one point that is a possibility that we have new platforms or new hardware, we’ll likely get there.”
