The Sims 4 is adding a first-person camera, the developer EA Maxis has recently announced. The studio revealed the feature in the newest Maxis Monthly livestream on Twitch.
The first-person option has been though many changes to get it to a workable, usable and enjoyable state. In the stream, Maxis talk about how the initial version of first-person mode was disorienting and vomit-inducing (similar to VR), but some camera-smoothing elements were implemented to help fix the issues. The camera is situated directly on the Sim’s face, but when changing to the first-person mode, it removes the Sim’s head, this is to avoid clipping and other issues.
The first-person option opens up a lot of new possibilities, and one of those is Sim sex. Luckily (or unluckily if you’re that into it) there was no footage of this shown in the live stream. The first-person camera will also be especially brilliant for events like having a baby and getting into a fight.
“We know this is not for everybody; it’s just weird and fun and quite random,” SimGuru Kate says.
The patch that introduces first-person mode will be available on November 13 and will be free.
