At CinemaCon recently, the first previews for the Sonic the Hedgehog movie were finally shown. First reports about the film aren’t encouraging, but the cast of the film were there to answer questions in an attempt to push the movie.
Jim Carrey, who plays Dr. Robotnik/Dr. Eggman, was speaking about his role in the movie: “We’re playing to families, so you can’t get too crazy, but I made sure that there are some winks and nods, and edgy things that are still acceptable to both age groups.” Carrey stated, and he then went on to describe Robotnik as “pure, unbridled evil.”
James Marsden, who plays a local police officer that is helping out Sonic, reinforced Carrey’s comments about tone with similar phrasing, stating “Of course the movie is going to be family friendly, but there is an edge to it; there is a sharpness to it.”
Sonic the Hedgehog will release this December, but we should see more details on the film within the next few months.
