After being given a product key for Rhino Tales new game She Sees Red, I was interested to see what features were included to make it feel like a game. To be quite frank, it doesn’t feel like a game at all apart from moving the thumb stick to hover over a choice.
This interactive film is just that – A short thriller film with minimal input, which is fine as I get the premise behind it and the fact it is an interactive game. With only 66 scenes to view with 4 different endings, She Sees Red is very short. A completion run from start to finish gaining all endings and achievements/trophies can be done in around 2 hours. So, each play-through is roughly 30 minutes long.
Even though you have 66 scenes to hopefully preview, you can see them all under 1 play-through due to choices you have to pick. There are multiple outcomes to each scene, however some scenes are still the same. With some scenes you witness some brutal fights and killings, along with 1 scene have a partial bit of nudity. It is very brief but begs to think, why put it in?
It says at the very beginning “Every Choice Matters.” To me, this makes it sound like you are going to be supplied with plenty of choices to make throughout the game. However, this is not the case. In fact you can count on one hand how many choices you make within a run through. I find that very disappointing as there could have been so many more ways to add more choices into the game giving it more potential and making the whole experience a lot more interesting.
This being said, I did very much enjoy viewing the different scenes and endings as you get sucked in to the characters within the game. It has been dubbed into English due to it being filmed as an underground Russian night club scene. There are points this could have been better. In particular, the night club owner’s voice doesn’t fully suit his persona.
If you can look past this, you are giving a good story thriller, about a murder taking place and the breadcrumbs the ‘so called detective’ follow to give payback to the nightclub owner. Obviously he doesn’t know this is a set up.
She Sees Red
There are many pros and cons to this game/cinematic film. I just think they shouldn’t really advertise it as a game because it lacks this element by quite a big margin.
