The latest game in the Division franchise, where gunning down the disenfranchised by the thousands is part of the endgame – The Division 2. In the midst of the Potomac Event Center, here are posters galore depicting a norse god and/or traveller holding on to a piece of Eden. Long time players of the franchise noticed that this is a part of Assassin’s Creed lore, originally spotted by YouTube JorRaptor.
So, could the next game after its hiatus in 2019 could be set around the time of the Vikings? Well, it could fit the standards that Assassin’s Creed Odyssey started with a big open world to explore on foot/and horse or sail across.
Now, the reasons why this could be important: Is because Ubisoft has put hints to upcoming titles in their games, such as the Watch Dogs 2 update that dropped a hint that Watch Dogs 3 is going to be set in London, and also a game called Pioneer was also hinted during a Watch Dogs 2 mission, but was both cancelled and not cancelled
Then again supposedly the next Assassin’s Creed was going to be set during the Romans according to the leak over on 4chan previously which also predicted Assassin’s Creed Origins – Which does throw a spanner in the works on this theory.
However, as hints goes this isn’t particularly subtle as the poster is pretty much everywhere. And if it was done with Ubisofts approval or just a cheeky environment artist just being a bit of a rebel is interesting nevertheless.
While I’m interested in that idea of being an assassin during the viking period. It doesn’t get me excited, as I feel that sticking with following history is getting rather dry for the series and I feel it needs to be unorthodox to get some magic back in the series – More of my thoughts on the series are here.
