In our EGX hands on rundown, we come to the case of remasters and I managed to get some game time with the MediEvil Remastered.
This title was originally made for the PlayStation back in 1998, and now I have to rather embarrassingly admit that I’ve never played MediEvil, so I don’t have the nostalgic viewpoint that requires a lobotomy.
For the uneducated (me), you play as Sir Daniel Fortesque whos woken up from his eternal slumber as the evil sorcerer Zarok is back to take over the kingdom and bend it to his whims. Although this isn’t the first time as Zarok did try a coup the first time and failed and Sir Dan “helped” in making that happen.
Brief plot premise overview over, how does it play? well alright, for someone who’s never played the original it did handle pretty solidly. Combat is solid and chunky, and serves as a reminder of games of its calibre back in the days, it has plenty of secrets and endless colour and charm to boot.
The remaster is expected to be out on the 25th of October so for you folks who suffer from nostalgia that would even concern the most zealotry of Sonic fans won’t have to wait long for this title. For someone who’s never played the original I would recommend it if you’re looking for a game with plenty of charm and heart on offer.
