The Forza Horizon series has been a road trip adventure that us racing fans have been looking forward to with increasing interest. The first Forza Horizon started back in 2012 and served as a nice, arcade like adventure away from the serious Forza Motorsport series. What made Horizon so good was that as the main series followed a realism path, Horizon embraced the fun and crazy side and really brought the road trip and festival feeling to life.
Now, you could be thinking either; “I’ve never heard of this Forza Horizon series before, where should I start?”, or “I’ve played these games, they’re great but what is the best?”, both of these questions are going to be answered here on XNVR. Buckle in, put your sunglasses on as we take a drive down the coast towards memory lane.
Some people may question me putting Horizon 4 in the bronze position, but hear me out. Yes, Horizon 4 is a fantastic game, incredibly well put together and fun as hell but it really does struggle to stand out in the memory.
The main issue that I have with Forza Horizon 4 is that the speed that you run out of things to do. You complete the races, the showcases and the different challenges and then you’re sat there trying to figure what to do next. The online multiplayer is unfortunately the same, where you race on the same tracks over and over and over and with no new tracks added, it does become stale pretty quickly.
So, if I’m moaning about it, how is Horizon 4 better than Horizon? Well, it does have regular content updates that are keeping the game alive, including the brilliant Eliminator mode, as well as frequent story chapters that have been branching the game out.
