Far Cry New Dawn was recently tested for a rating by the Entertainment Software Rating Board to see where it fits in, to the surprise of not many, Far Cry New Dawn has gained a rating of mature. The games are known for their violence, sexual references and drug usage.
Here’s what the ESRB had to say about the Far Cry New Dawn mature rating:
“Cutscenes depict additional acts of intense violence: a man executed with a shotgun blast; a man shot point-blank in the chest. The game contains brief sexual references in the dialogue. During the course of the game, players’ character can consume alcohol, resulting in a screen-blurring effect and the character passing out. The words “f**k” and “sh*t” are heard in dialogue.”
So far, so Far Cry, none of this is that surprising so far.
The latest installment in the Far Cry series takes players to post-apocalyptic Montana, as a direct spin-off of Far Cry 5. Something the series hasn’t done before, making a direct chronological sequel. Every other Far Cry game is only established to be taking place in the same universe, but New Dawn takes place because of the ending of Far Cry 5.
We do have little details about Far Cry 5 though, firstly, will co-op be around? And how will it function? Is New Dawn a stand-alone game or is it a spin-off like Blood Dragon was? Finally, if it is set right after the events of Far Cry 5, will it use the exact same map but with new events?
Hopefully all will be revealed soon.
