Dirt 4 was actually so forgettable that I had to Google it to remind myself that it actually happened. A step away from the fun of the first Dirt games, and replaced was the first step into the Dirt Rally series. In Dirt 4, players are tasked with creating a rallying team and slowly progress up the rallying ladder by driving faster – and more annoying cars. The usual Dirt tropes are here – doing some rally races and some landrush events.
Dirt 4 is last on the Dirt list because of how incredibly boring it is, the tracks are boring – mostly because they are procedurally generated, the cars don’t feel like fun to drive and the career mode is very much a just get to the end because of no real reason affair, even the customization options on offer are pretty dull.
This clearly opened the door for what would later become the Dirt Rally series, but it didn’t show the fun side of rallying like the previous Dirt games did, it did the exact opposite and put me off being interested in the game at all – needless to say, it didn’t stay installed for long.
