Dirt 3 wasn’t the worst Dirt by a long shot (as you’ve come this far, you know this) the main problem with Dirt 3 was that it fell into the place of – it’s a good game, but very similar to Dirt 2, without too much being too different. Dirt 3 brought in the Gymkhana discipline, which personally, I hated. Every event of it was just grit your teeth and just getting through it while not spending too much time on it. It really was not a mode that should have been given so much time on.
The rest of the game was rather solid, it was graphically sound, played well, the cars had the right weight and feel to them and the multiplayer was entertaining enough to be played for at least 10 minutes – but that was where the issues started, a lot of the game did get repetitive quite quickly and did feel slightly grindy.
The reason why Dirt 3 takes the number 4 spot was because at the time, the slightly whacky car, the rallying playground was done over and over – albeit not always better, but it just fell into the background.
