Control’s console launch was a slightly rocky affair, as the latest release from Remedy Entertainment suffering from performance issues on all platforms, but the situation was particularly bad on the Xbox One and PS4, where the game could dip as low 10 frames per second.
Remedy have now dropped a new patch, which promised to improve performance on consoles, but did it really make that much of a difference? According to a new analysis by Digital Foundry, it seems that the answer is yes.
So far, Control 1.03 has only been released for PS4, but that was the platform hit hardest by performance issues, so we can probably assume any improvements on Sony’s platform will also carry over to Xbox One and PC when they get the patch.
Following the update, Control is now much more consistent running on PS4 Pro, with the game now maintaining a mostly-consistent 30fps with occasional dips into the mid-20s.
Control is available now on PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
