Capcom has revealed that it expects to lose 4.5 Billion Yen as the result of the termination of projects at Capcom Vancouver, the studio behind the Dead Rising games.
While Capcom didn’t specify what projects were cancelled but it’s highly likely that Dead Rising 5 might be one of the cancelled projects.
Capcom didn’t specify the reason behind the cancelation for the projects and only noted that it is “reviewing the allocation of its development resources”.
However, Capcom did note that cancelation of the projects at Capcom Vancouver and the projected loss of 4.5 Billion Yen will not affect the overall fiscal year that will end March 31, 2019.
Capcom Vancouver latest game was Dead Rising 4 which launch in December 2016. However, the game failed to meet expectations initially at launch.
With Capcom cancelling projects at Capcom Vancouver, it seems like the company has lost faith in the Dead Rising franchise and will be allocating the studio to another project.
