Another day, another Anthem bug. Today, players have discovered a bug in the game that makes the rarest endgame guns useless – when compared to level one guns that you get at the start of the level. Multiple players have said that the level 1 weapons are more powerful than the end game weapons – thus making the effort to get these “special” weapons pointless.
This bug has been put down to an issue in difficulty scaling, as each weapon has a level of damage it can cause, but this issue appears to be having the reverse effect and is causing the game to identify low-level weapons as giving out higher damage points.
A Reddit user by the name of “YeetLordSupreme” posted about this when his level one Defender rifle completely a high-level enemy. This appears to have been backed up by another Reddit user who posted a clip that shows a level 1 weapon taking three shots to take down The Scar Scout’s shield.
User Hydrox2016 had this to say on Anthem’s official Reddit.
“The level 1 Cloudburst puts the Warden to shame. Cuts through enemies like a hot knife through butter in GM1, it’s hilarious. Everything seems to be hitting harder. Shield Charge, Ultimate, Railgun all absolutely deleting enemies.”
BioWare technical design director Brenon Holmes confirmed an investigation into the matter is underway with this statement:
We’ll need to investigate this, scaling systems are supposed to allow low-level players to play with high-level players to be effective against high-level enemies. This is not intended, something ain’t right there.
As Anthem has had a troubled development, how long will it be before players start to lose faith with the product and abandon it altogether, as there has previously been reports of the game crashing and bricking PS4 consoles, and it is already received a massive downgrade in graphics and gameplay from what was seen at E3 demos.
Anthem is available PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
